It looks like WhatsApp did pay attention to all the criticism it had been receiving since the last update. WhatsApp introduced the new status update few weeks back which made users to update disappearing stories which would last for a day, more like the snapchat/instagram story feature.
Right from the day of the update, WhatsApp users have criticized the company, which is owned by Facebook to bring back the old school status update. Well, it looks like Whatsapp did pay attention to what their users requested.
In the latest WhatsApp beta version 2.17.97, WhatsApp has brought in the new status update, renaming it as the 'About' option. The disappearing status would still be there and would be termed as 'Status' and the non disappearing status would be called as 'About' and would be available from the profile tab. Users can set privacy to their ‘about’ update and choose the visibility from ‘everyone’, ‘my contacts’, or ‘nobody’, just like the good old times.
Alongside, the latest Whatsapp beta version introduces refreshed design and chat window layout. In the latest version, the app features rounded edges in the typing window and icons. Also, now users would get two independent icons to place a video or voice call in a chat window. Unlike earlier, to place a video or voice call, users would have to confirm to place a call. To place a video or voice call, users can tap on icons at the top of the chat window, respectively.
